Keep your eye on this man… Herman Cain

January 21st, 2011

After many months of “prayerful consideration,” Herman Cain, the former chief executive of Godfather’s Pizza and the conservative host of a popular talk radio show in Georgia, has formed an exploratory committee to run for president as a Republican.

I am confident enough to be president… After I go through this phase and the decision is yes, trust me, I’m running to win.” Cain on “Top Line,” January 2011.

WATCH Cain Discusses Run for President in 2012

The announcement came on his website, where Cain wrote:

“The American Dream is under attack. In fact, a recent survey found 67% of the American People believe America is headed in the wrong direction. Sadly, this comes as no surprise to those of us who have watched an out-of-control federal government that spends recklessly, taxes too much and oversteps its Constitutional limits far too often.”

Cain, an African-American Republican, holds a master’s degree in computer science from Purdue University and was a corporate vice president for Burger King before running Godfather’s Pizza. Previously, he served as chairman of the board of directors for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City — and was chairman of the board for the National Restaurant Association.

He has never been elected to public office, but he did briefly run for president in 2000.

In 2004, Cain ran for U.S. Senate in Georgia, coming in second place to then-Congressman Johnny Isakson in the Republican primary (many believe that had Cain forced a runoff, he would have defeated Isakson in a head-to-head match-up). During the campaign, Cain was criticized for having previously donated money to former Sen. Bob Kerrey of Nebraska, a Democrat.

Speaking of money, Cain’s challenge will be to raise the kind of funds needed to run a serious presidential campaign. In prior conversations, Cain implied to me that he would not self-fund his campaign.

But though Cain has himself admitted that he would be a “dark horse” candidate, he will be greatly aided by the fact that he is a full-spectrum conservative with solid fiscal and social credentials. Christian conservatives love him, and The Club for Growth endorsed him for Senate in 2004. Cain is also close with fiscal conservative and two-time presidential candidate Steve Forbes. Depending on the field, there is great potential for him to rally conservative activists and bloggers to his cause.

For months now, Cain has been rumored to be seriously considering a presidential run. Perhaps not coincidentally, RedState’s Erick Erickson recently announced the launch of a new radio show, “The Erick Erickson Show” on Atlanta’s WBS radio — a station which also broadcasts Cain’s popular radio show.

RVP Meeting 11/15/11

November 16th, 2011
Last night we had a Roanoke Valley Patriot meeting in Warren Co at Sunset Realty.  Many of our friends from Roanoke Rapids and Warren Co. attended. With the election year coming up, we hope to meet at least every 2 – 3 months in different local counties and in R.R. We have a lot of work to do!
 Some things we discussed:
…..The importance of the weekly webinars I have with TEA PARTY PATRIOTS.  They are the national Tea Party group that we and several thousand other tea party groups are a member of.  Although it SEEMS like we aren’t doing a lot; much is happening behind the scenes!! TPP are the ones who have boots on the ground and connections in DC and hold our representatives’ feet to the fire!  When they see an action that needs to be addressed; it is always discussed and voted on by all coordinators. All ACTION ITEMS, I send it to you.  These are the petitions, calls, emails and faxes I send you asking you to contact our representitives.  TPP works hard for us DAILY in SO many ways.  I recommend you go to their website teapartypatriots.org and read about this great grassroots organization.
The importance of  helping within our precincts, registering voters, and working the polls was an important discussion.
We also discussed and voted on a project recently kicked off in NC.  It is the NC TEA PARTY BILLBOARD PROJECT.   NC tea party groups are going to pepper NC highways with full size billboards with a TEA PARTY election message for all to see over and over as they travel our main Highways over the next  year. We support these efforts to educate others about the importance of voting.
We discussed the successful  September Littleton/ Lake Gaston Festival  where we registered voters, signed up new members, and passed out  US Constitutions.
We talked a bit about agenda 21 and a possible (excellent) speaker on the topic early this spring. We brought it up but do not YET know enough to share. We do know it’s serious and has arrived in our counties.
I am told there is a YOU TUBE called Agenda 21 for dummies that may explain this.   Although Agenda 21 is not new, it has recently come to the attention of many (even Gingrich) who had never heard of it.  It is now being pushed by city planners and local government on farmers and their land…and fought by others who understand the impacts of it…..right here in Warren Co. and I understand those doing the pushing have approached Halifax Co.  They may refer to it as comprehensive planning, smart growth, or growth management. Listen for these terms!! It’s HERE and we have to learn more about it before it’s too late to do anything about it. THAT is their goal; get towns on board and suck them into their plan.
A member kicked off a worthwhile project.  It received a warm appreciation from the crowd of about 40.  It’s called “ACT OF KINDNESS”.  She has made up business size cards that say You have been touched by an ACT OF KINDNESS  please don’t let it end with you  Pass it on.
At a time when our country is becoming more and more divided, this is a first step to show some kindness toward our fellow man.
When would you use them??…. for example: Let’s say you are in line at the store and the lady in front of you is short 25¢…hand them a quarter and this card…and the hope is that they will then do a good deed to another…and on and on…. This is the perfect season to show a bit of extra kindness :)
We briefly discussed the RVP hosting the Roanoke Rapids Christmas Parade and recruited help from the folks who attended.
We want to maintain a positive image in our town.
A sign up sheet for the many volunteers we will be needing for the next year was passed around.  Thank you to so many who offered to help!!
Thanks to all who attended!!!

Herman Cain….You May not Have Heard This…….

September 29th, 2011

Herman Cain grew up in a loving, working class   environment in Atlanta, Georgia, with strict Christian parents who worked hard   to put their children through school and gave them a chance at the life that   they never had. Unlike some other candidates, his success was self-achieved   through his drive and remarkable   intelligence.

Even though he’s known as the “pizza” candidate for his   years as head of Godfather’s Pizza, his background is much broader than that.   After he graduated from Morehouse College with a degree in mathematics and a   minor in chemistry in 1968, Cain landed a job as a ballistics analyst for the   Department of the Navy, where he was responsible for the calculations that   ensured battleship rockets hit their targets. he also serves as a minister at   Antioch Baptist Church North in   Atlanta.

Cain later completed a master’s degree in computer   science and entered the business world where he led several companies–most   recently Godfather’s–began working for The Coca-Cola   Company as a business   analyst. In 1977, he joined Pillsbury where he rose to the position of Vice President by the   early 1980s. He left his executive post to work for Burger   King – a Pillsbury   subsidiary at the time – managing 400 stores in the Philadelphia area. Under Cain’s leadership, his region went from the   least profitable for Burger King to most profitable jn 3 years. He   chaired the National Restaurant Association and later the Federal Reserve Bank   of Kansas City.

Cain was a 1996 recipient of the Horatio   Alger Award. Cain was   on the board of directors of Aquila,   Inc. from 1992 to 2008,   and also served as a board member for Nabisco, Whirlpool, Reader’s   Digest, and AGCO, Inc.

His résumé–from mathematician and rocket scientist to   restaurateur and now politician–isn’t exactly a typical one for a   presidential candidate. But Cain said that while his presidential run may look   unlikely from the outside, it’s actually part of his larger career trajectory   of seeking out new ways to test   himself.

This guy is Right…….

President Obama denies VP Biden called Tea partiers “terrorists”…….

August 16th, 2011
BY: AFP
US President Barack Obama went
head-to-head with a prominent conservative Tea Party activist, in a microcosm of
a political clash that will play out in the 2012 election.

Ryan Rhodes, a leader of the group in Iowa,
took on Obama during an open-air town hall meeting, which marked a moment of new
intensity in the president’s campaign for a second term.

Rhodes shouted out that the president’s calls
for more civility in politics had little chance of coming to pass after “your
vice president is calling people like me, a Tea Party member, a
‘terrorist.’”

His question referred to media reports that
Vice President Joe Biden made such a remark in a private meeting with House of
Representatives Democrats at the height of a debt showdown earlier this
month.

The clash came as Obama was intent on
wrapping up the meeting in the shadow of a red country barn draped with an
American flag, as the sun set on a rural corner of Iowa.

“I know it’s not going to work, if you stand up, and I asked everybody to
raise their hand… I didn’t see you, I wasn’t avoiding you,” the president
said, but later circled back to answer Rhodes’s question.

“I absolutely agree that everybody needs to try to tone down the rhetoric,”
he said, before going on to detail some of the more explosive charges that
conservatives have laid against him.

“In fairness, since I have been called a socialist who wasn’t born in this
country, who is destroying America and taking away its freedoms because I passed
a health care bill, I am all for lowering the rhetoric.”

Obama and Rhodes later engaged in an animated conversation as he greeted
supporters on a rope line after the event, and the activist later told reporters
that he believed that Obama was indeed a socialist.

The president was on the first day of a
three-state bus tour in which he is sympathizing with Americans dismayed and
frustrated by the slow pace of the economic recovery and trying to repair his
battered political standing.

Rhodes backed winning candidate and Tea Party favorite Representative Michele
Bachmann in last weekend’s Iowa Straw poll, and is regarded as a founder of the
anti-big government movement in the state.

The Tea Party lacks a centralized national leadership but emerged in the 2010
congressional election cycle as a powerful influence on conservative Republican
politics, with its message of low taxes and cutting spending.

The movement was also seen as a key driver of
Republican leadership tactics in a debt showdown with Obama, and some Democrats
accused Tea Party activists of holding the country hostage over raising the
government’s borrowing limit.

Rick Perry is now running for President of the USA

August 16th, 2011

Who Is Rick
Perry?
He is a fifth generation Texan, the son of
hardscrabble west Texas tenant farmers. Democrats but conservatives through and
through. He grew up in a farm town too small to be on the state map. Life was so
hard that he was six years old before his house had indoor plumbing. His mother
sewed his clothes, including the underwear he wore to college.

He is an
Eagle Scout. After Paint Creek High School, he attended Texas A&M,
graduated, and was commissioned into the Air Force where he became a C-130
pilot.

Now 61 years old, he has won nine elections to four different
offices in Texas state government. In the first three elections he ran as a
Democrat then switched to the Republican Party. He is currently the 47th
governor of Texas, a position he has held for 11 years, the longest tenure of
any governor in the nation.

He has never lost an election.

Rick
Perry was the Lieutenant Governor to whom Governor George Bush handed over the
office after winning the 2000 Presidential election. Since then, Perry won
gubernatorial elections in 2002, 2004, and 2010, the last time by 55% against a
field consisting of a Democrat, a Libertarian, a Green Party, and an
Independent.

Since he became its Governor, Texas, a right to work state
that taxes neither personal income nor capital gains, has added more jobs than
the other 49 states combined. In the last two years, low taxes and little
regulation led his state to create 47% of all jobs created in the entire nation.
Five of the top ten cities with the highest job growth in the nation are in
Texas. People follow jobs, so in the last four years for which data are
available, Texas led every state in net interstate migration
growth.

Perry signed ground-breaking, loser pays tort reform and medical
litigation rules that caused malpractice insurance rates to fall. Some 20,000
doctors have since moved to Texas.

Texas boasts 58 of the Fortune 500
companies, more than any other state. Since May 2011 Texas resumed its
pre-recession employment levels. Only two other states and the District of
Columbia have done that.

Texas ships 16% of the nation’s export value.
California trails at 11%. Of the 70 companies that have fled California so far
in 2011, 14 relocated in Texas.

In this year’s Texas legislative season,
Perry got most of what he wanted. With no new taxes, a fiscally lean state
budget was passed leaving $6 billion in a rainy day fund even as other states
around the country struggled to balance budgets and avoid more deficit
borrowing. A voter ID bill passed that was designed to prevent ballot box fraud
and illegal voting. A bill passed that makes plaintiffs pay court costs and
attorney fees if their suits are deemed frivolous.

Perry scored points
even in his legislative failures. He failed to get sanctuary cities banned,
Texas towns in which police cannot question detainees about their immigration
status. The blame fell on the legislature. Perry also failed to get a so-called
anti-groping bill passed that would put Transportation Security Administration
agents in prison if they touch the genitals, anus, or breasts of passengers in a
pat down. Federal officials threatened to halt all flights out of Texas airports
and the bill died in special session. That endeared Texans even more to TSA
employees living in Texas.

TEA PARTY TAKE A BOW

August 15th, 2011

On August 14, 2011, in 2012 Roadmap, GOP Candidates, Uncategorized, by Van Guard

Fried Ice Cream, Fried Cheesecake, Chocolate Lava Bites, Shrimp Fries, (See Food) …and TEA….

Plenty of high-cholesterol, exotic food and politics at the Iowa State Fair, served up this week, but the dish that took the prize, the absolute winner, was not the food, but a beverage, and that elixir was TEA…

And to celebrate, of course, there was and continues, a Tea Party.

While Michele Bachmann has proven her mettle as winner of the Ames Straw Poll, and scored well at the Iowa Debate, others shone through, as well.  Those we suspected would do well, did so, and those we thought would wane, waned.

And though some claimed that Sarah Palin and Rick Perry would “consume all the oxygen in the room”  quite the opposite occurred. Palin’s presence at the Iowa Fair dramatically increased and further legitimized, not just the importance of Iowa in the launch of the 2012 campaign, but acknowledged the massive participation and influence of the Tea Party in this campaign season.

Rick Perry announced his candidacy in South Carolina, yet his expected visit to Iowa again emphasizes and enhances the Tea Party presence there. Thousands of miles away from Iowa, Rick Perry’s speech resonated across the nation, and echoed the voices of the Tea party, celebrating in Iowa.

Regardless of who it was and what they said: Romney, Bachmann, Paul, Pawlenty, Gingrich, or any of the other candidates, it was the Tea Party agenda that framed the debate, dominated the discussions, and prevailed.

So much so, that Obama attack dog, David Axelrod, took notice, and used his favorite messenger at ABC, George Stephanopoulos, to answer a question about who might be the winner at the Iowa debates.

“The most stunning thing was that moment when the moderators asked all the candidate(s) would they accept an approach to the deficits, to the debt that would include ten parts cuts and one parts raising revenues and they all raised their hands and said ‘no.’” Axelrod said. “And really what they were doing was pledging allegiance to the Tea Party.”  (See Stephanopoulos Article)

The healthy debates between members of the Tea Party have been erroneously estimated by the Obamistas to be points of potential exploitation, in order to divide their opposition, however, their assessment is a gross miscalculation.

Prior to the Tea Party Movement, Socialists on the Left, have always counted on and colluded with Progressives on the Right.  Until now there has always been a pretense of dichotomy, of polarization, of opposition between the two parties, and indeed that could not have been exemplified more clearly than by the most recent Debt Limit Deal.

But more and more of the citizenry continues to awaken to the sham that has been but a facade of a two-party system.

The Socialists’ attacks upon the Tea Party are the convulsions within the Democrat and Republican parties of those who have suddenly realized their ruse has been discovered, and that for the first time in a very, very long time they actually face opposition from those that know they have been flim-flamm’ed.

And more and more of the Socialist fiasco and the agenda of “transformation” will collapse with every major Tea Party event, as the Tea Party gains even more momentum with each Primary election, not just to send a message to Big Government that its days are over, but to elect the candidates that will make that happen.

The big winner in Iowa is the Tea Party.

Celebrate as it takes a bow.
